FILTER ELEMENT REPLACEMENT

BACFREE recommends changing of its ceramic based filter cartridges after the filtration of 5000 litres of water which is roughly equivalent to 8 to 12 month duration. Please note: the washable ceramic / element is fragile and may break if dropped or mishandled

BS 1 and BS 2

Turn the on-off handle to the fully 'off' position.
Unscrew the cap and lift out the cap/element assembly.
Grip the cap and unscrew the element. (It is sensible precaution to put your hand in a plastic bag for this operation to avoid touching the surface of the dirty element)
Discard the used element and install the new element.

BS 5

Turn off the water supply to the filter.
Place a suitable container under the BS5 unscrews and removes Filter Housing from cap.
Lift out the Element Support Plate/Element assembly.
Grip support place/retainer and unscrew Element.
Discard the used element and in install the new element.

Note: when a new element has been fitted into the filter, leave the water run to waste for about 15 minutes. With the BACFREE SWISS TECH, HI TECH and CARBON ELEMENT, black dust may be seen in the waste water and we recommend leaving the water running until clear. The dust is carbon which made from charcoal and is not harmful.

FILTER ELEMENT CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Note: Filter element requires periodic cleaning, usually once a week depending on turbidity and usage to maintain regular flow. You are advise to use the special sponge provided to wash the element.
