WHAT IS MULTI MEDIUM QUARTZ FILTER?

The filtration system is a multi-medium quartz filter which has multi-layers of carefully selected medium, each of different size, density and functions in addressing the water problems.

Physical Phenomenon. The physical phenomenon of spontaneous flocculation occurs naturally due to decreasing dimension of grain size and thereafter decreasing interstitial surfaces on the filter mass. Unfiltered raw water passes through the filter bed in top-bottom flow direction and decreases turbidity gradually throughout the filter mass. Larger particles are held by the top layer, while the smaller particles are held by the progressively more compact layers.

Chemical Phenomenon. Chemical phenomenon of spontaneous flocculation occurs as a result of the progressive increases in velocity of water going through the mass until where such velocity succeeds in breaking the electrochemical equilibrium of the colloids. Such phenomenon cannot occur in filter consisting of single medium because the velocity of the water does not undergo the necessary progressive acceleration.

Adsorption Phenomenon. Another ability of the filter medium to filter particles is by way of adsorption whereby particles and contaminants are attracted, retained or trapped on the filter medium surface, effectively removing them from the unfiltered water.

SYSTEM AND FILTER MEDIA SPECIFICATION

Depending on the water problems and water requirements, a wide selection of filter media are used in the filters.

Multi Medium Filter System MMF	Filtration of suspended particles and contaminants to address the aesthetic water problems and impurities such as the taste, odour, and colour. Designed for reducing suspended particulate down to 5 microns in size and achieve a turbidity of 3NTU or less.
Dual Media Filter System DF	Design to addresses the water problems and impurities within closed loop water system and/or specific water problems such as iron and manganese within any open water system.
Single Media Filter System SF	Addresses the water problems and impurities within closed loop water system and/or specific water problems such as iron and manganese within any open water system.
Carbon Filter System CF	Addresses the chlorine, organic chemicals, odour and tastes water problems.
Softener Filter System SOFTIX	Addresses the water hardness cause by calcium and magnesium.
